Community Service (Students)
Community Involvement (Community Groups)
Volunteering (Individuals)
We benefit from the hard work and dedication of many people who volunteer their help throughout the year to maintain the theater, raise money and to assist at the concerts. There are opportunities for students to earn "Community Service Hours", individuals to help at the shows and organisations to help provide needed assistance in a variety of ways.
Students and Community Service
At the Lurman Woodland Theatre we provide area students an opportunity to earn Community Service Hours. Every year a number of High School Students help us at each of the concerts to set-up, assist in parking control, clean-up and other duties. You are asked to arrive one hour before the show, which would be 5:00 PM for most concerts, and stay until we close-up which is between 9:00 - 9:30 PM.
Each Spring and Fall we have clean-up days to prepare for the Summer Concert Series. This usually involves raking leaves and picking up branches. We provide written documentation for the time you work. Please contact us to participate, we are always in need of students to help make this program a success.
Community Group Involvement
Some area organizations have been volunteering their member's time to help clean-up and prepare the theatre for the Summer Program. We also have particular projects to be accomplished to help improve the safety and comfort of the park. If you are involved with a group that would like to volunteer your time to help us or would like to donate the funds for a particular project, please contact us to make those arrangements.
Volunteering
We invite you to participate on our committee to help plan and organize the Summer Concert Series. There are a variety of tasks we must perform every year to produce this program. We meet monthly from 7:00 - 9:30 PM at the Bloomsbury Community Center, 106 Bloomsbury Avenue in Catonsville. All are welcome.
If you are not interested or able to help at the committee level, we always need help at each show to set-up and manage the concert. If you have a desire to help us in any capacity, you are encouraged to contact us.
We welcome the opportunity for grants, and other means of support. Please contact us for information.
